The Seattle Sounder’s entered into the MLS in November 2007 as the latest expansion team in the league. From the beginning it was clear that Seattle fans were special. Maybe fanatical would be a better term to use, rather than special.

The Portland Timbers are one of the newest teams in Major League Soccer. This has not stopped the team from having one of the most rabid and supportive fan bases in the league though. The team was started in 2011 along with the expansion team in Vancouver. American soccer fans are always trying to think of ways to make soccer more popular in the USA. It seems there is a spike in popularity every 4 years when the World Cup rolls around. The USA made the elimination round in the last World Cup for the first time in years. This helped the popularity of the sport increase for a while. The interest for the sport just does not translate over to the MLS with American soccer fans.
